Many routers implement only the Network Address Translation (NAT) feature, others supply an entry level firewall. The Nimeon N-Force service is based on a firewall that uses the same security technology implemented in the large companies (enterprises, telecommunication companies, credit institutions, government agencies, public safety and soldiers), that allows to:
- Apply security checks to the incoming and outgoing data
- Control all the applications and the protocols, not limiting itself to common or predefined ones
- Protect from “Denial of Service” ( DoS ) attacks
- Record the intrusion attempts and generate alarms
- Apply antivirus controls to the incoming and outgoing e-mail messages
- To restrict the web access to not appropriate sites (i.e. violence, drug, sex, gambling, etc), mechanism known also as "Parental Control"
- The Nimeon N-Force service has highest performances versus the low cost router.
- The router configurations are static and they require the user intervention. That is uncomfortable, difficult to understand and can be unsecure, since many security problems are generated just from incorrect configurations of the security products. The Nimeon N-Force service is configured by Management Center and is maintained based on the most recent reposrts that comes from all the main Security Operation Centers in the world.
